How ordering custom apparel works, step by step
Eight steps between “I need shirts” and a box on your table, and a person you can call at any point in them. Here is exactly what happens.
1. Details — You tell us what you are after
Style, colour, quantity, sizes, and where the imprint goes. You do not need to know all of it. Most people start with “about forty shirts for the team, navy, logo on the front” and we work the rest out together.
2. Quote — We put a formal price together
Written, itemised, and based on your specs rather than a range. It shows the garment, the decoration method, the quantity break you land on and the total. Quotes usually come back the same day.
3. Refine — We make sure the quote is the thing you actually want
This is the step people skip and regret. We go back and forth until the quote describes the right garment, in the right colour, with the right decoration in the right place. Changing a number here costs nothing. Changing it after production has started costs a reprint.
4. Invoice — We turn the agreed quote into an invoice
Once you are happy with the quote, we issue the invoice for it. Payment is what releases the job into artwork — unless you have approved NET 30 terms with us, in which case we start straight away.
5. Proof — Our art team builds your proof
We lay out your design at the real size, on the real garment colour, in the real thread or ink colours. If your artwork needs work to survive the process — a logo pulled off a website, a file with no vector version — this is where we tell you, and we do not charge you to find out.
6. Review — We email it to you
Usually within one to two business days. What you see is what gets made, so check the spelling, the colours and the placement.
7. Revise — We change it until it is right
As many rounds as it takes. Nobody is counting. This is also the point where you can still change your mind about a colour or move a logo two inches.
8. Production — You approve, we schedule, it gets made
Production runs about two to three weeks after you approve the proof. Nothing is cut, printed, pressed or stitched until you have said yes. What actually decides your timeline
The proof, not the printing. Production is the predictable part. The variable is how long it takes to get the artwork right and approved — which is why the sooner you send a logo, the sooner everything else can happen. What to send us, and what happens if you have nothing
Best: a vector file — .AI, .EPS or a vector .PDF. It scales cleanly to any garment size.
Fine: a large, sharp PNG, TIFF or JPG at full size.
Also fine: nothing at all. Send a rough idea, a photo of your old shirts, or a description, and we will lay it out for you. A lot of our work starts that way.
We keep your artwork on file, so a reorder next season is a phone call rather than a project.

How long does a custom printing order take?

Is there a minimum order quantity?
It depends on the decoration method. Screen printing is most cost-effective for larger runs, while DTF printing lets us produce smaller quantities and one-offs affordably. Tell us what you need and we will recommend the best fit.
What decoration methods do you offer?
We offer screen printing, embroidery, and DTF (direct-to-film) printing. Embroidery and DTF are produced in-house at our Grand Junction shop; screen printing is handled by trusted production partners, so you still get one point of contact and one invoice. Each suits different designs, garments, and quantities, and we will help you choose the right one.
What kind of artwork file do you need?
Vector files (AI, EPS, or PDF) are ideal because they scale cleanly to any size. High-resolution PNG or TIFF files can also work. Do not have a usable file? We can often clean up or recreate your logo for you.
Can you match my exact brand colors?
Yes. Share your Pantone (PMS) color values and we will match them as closely as the printing process allows for consistent, on-brand results.
